File Armor: Encrypt Files Locally in Your Browser

Encrypt a PDF, photo, or document with a password, entirely offline in your browser. Lock or unlock files with a custom passphrase — encryption and decryption happen instantly on your device, with nothing ever uploaded.

✅ 100% Client-Side ✅ AES-GCM 256-bit ✅ No server logs

Frequently asked questions

Does my file get uploaded anywhere?

No. The file never leaves your device — encryption and decryption happen entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API. Notenz's servers never see the file or your passphrase.

What encryption does File Armor use?

AES-256-GCM, the same standard used by password managers and full-disk encryption tools. The encrypted file can only be opened with the exact passphrase you set.

What if I forget the passphrase?

There's no recovery — Notenz never stores it. For passphrases you might forget, consider keeping a hint in your Notenz vault, delivered to a trusted contact if you ever go silent. See Notenz's free vault.
