Seed Phrase Splitter: 2-of-3 Recovery Backup
Runs 100% in your browser, nothing is sent to or stored on any server. Split a 12 or 24-word crypto recovery phrase into three paper backups: any two restore it. Think of it like a map cut into 3 pieces: any 2 pieces together show the whole map, but 1 piece alone shows nothing.
💡 Tip: Use lowercase and single spaces between words.
How it works: We generate three unique shares (S1, S2, S3) that XOR to your original phrase. Card 1 gets (S1, S2). Card 2 gets (S2, S3). Card 3 gets (S3, S1). If you lose one card, the other two still contain all three shares needed to recover.
Print all three cards, then store them in different places: for example one at home, one in a bank deposit box, one with a trusted family member. Any two combined restore your phrase; one alone reveals nothing.
Card 1 of 3: Notenz Recovery Phrase Backup. This card alone reveals nothing. Combine with ANY ONE other card (Card 2 or Card 3) at https://notenz.com/pl/tools/seed-splitter/ to restore the phrase. Give to one person; store away from the other two cards.
Card 2 of 3: Notenz Recovery Phrase Backup. This card alone reveals nothing. Combine with ANY ONE other card (Card 1 or Card 3) at https://notenz.com/pl/tools/seed-splitter/ to restore the phrase. Give to one person; store away from the other two cards.
Card 3 of 3: Notenz Recovery Phrase Backup. This card alone reveals nothing. Combine with ANY ONE other card (Card 1 or Card 2) at https://notenz.com/pl/tools/seed-splitter/ to restore the phrase. Give to one person; store away from the other two cards.
✍️ Print at a private printer, not a shared/public one: these cards are not encrypted on paper.
Restore from Cards
Enter any two cards to recover your original seed phrase.

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Shamir's Secret Sharing?
No. It uses a simpler XOR-based split, not the polynomial math behind true Shamir's Secret Sharing. Any 2 of the 3 generated cards can still reconstruct the original phrase, and no single card reveals any part of it on its own.
What if I lose one card?
That's the point: losing any one of the three cards is fine. The remaining two are enough to recover your full seed phrase.
Does Notenz store my seed phrase?
No. The split happens entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to or stored on Notenz's servers. For long-term storage of recovery info with automatic delivery to family, see Notenz's free vault.
